Streaker Class Association Free Prize Draw - Closing date Sunday 7th March 2010

The Streaker Class Association are once again running a free prize draw for prizes including a £100 voucher to be used against a dinghy insurance policy from Noble Marine.

Entries can be submitted via the Streaker website or on their stand at the RYA Volvo Dinghy Show held 6th & 7th March 2010 at Alexandra Palace.

The deadline for online entries is 5pm on 5th March and entries at the Dinghy Show will be accepted until 3pm on 7th March.

23/12/09 - Christmas and New Year Opening Times

The offices of Noble Marine will be closed on Christmas Eve, reopening on Tuesday 29th December. We will close again on New Year's Day and reopen on Monday 4th January 2010.

During the holiday period, it will be possible to obtain an insurance quotation and buy cover for many types of craft and also submit details of a claim, via our online claim form.

08/09/2009 - Insurance at Skandia Sail For Gold Regatta 2009

Noble Marine are pleased to be able to offer third party liability insurance for sailors at the Skandia Sail For Gold Regatta at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy, 14th Sep 2009 to 19th Sep 2009.

Third party liability cover for a Laser, 2.4mR or Scud can be provided for a premium of £31.50, a 470 for £42.00, Finn for £52.50 and 49er for the premium of £105.00. A policy for these classes can be purchased via our Dinghy Insurance page.

21/7/2009 - Insurance Scheme for the UK 2.4mR Association

A new insurance scheme for the UK 2.4mR Association has been arranged.

The Association has recently revamped its website www.ukassociation2-4mr.co.uk and is hoping to extend membership with a series of events in the near future, starting with the National Championships at Rutland Water 19-21st August 2009.

Noble Marine are delighted to announce the launch of a new Insurance scheme for the International OK Dinghy British Class Association.

01/06/09 - Norwich Union Changes its name to Aviva

As one of Norwich Union's largest marine brokers we are pleased to announce that with effect from 1st June 2009, Norwich Union has changed its name to Aviva.

Aviva was formed in 2000 by combining three great British companies, Norwich Union, Commercial Union and General Accident, to form the largest insurance provider in the UK. In the UK, the company continued to be known as Norwich Union although trading globally as Aviva.

Now, in order to have a consistent name throughout the world, the name in the UK has officially changing to Aviva.

Thefts at Datchet Water Sailing Club

During the night of Saturday 28th March 2009 and the early hours of Sunday 29th March 2009, thieves entered the dinghy park at Datchet Water Sailing Club.

Approximately 30 boats were targeted including Lasers, Toppers, Optimists, a Topper Xenon and a Laser 4000. The thieves slashed covers, stealing spars and rope kits. Unusually some older spars were discarded, and so we are initially ruling out thefts for scrap metal value.

We would be extremely interested to hear from you if you have been offered cheap spars for any of these classes or Laser XD rope kits. Naturally any information would be treated in the strictest confidence.

To avoid similar copy-cat thefts it might be worthwhile to review security arrangements at your club and your own boat.

18/01/08 - Breakdown cover while Towing a Trailer

The majority of vehicle breakdown companies will be able to get you going again from the roadside, and if they're unable to do this they will recover your car to a local garage or even to your original desitination.

Have you considered what would happen if you were towing a trailer and the car was recovered? Most companies would try to help, but not all will guarantee that the trailer will be recovered with the vehicle.

The number of boat for sale adverts listed on the Noble Marine website continues to grow and one of the most active areas continues to be the section for Sailing Dinghies. This is not surprising considering that the adverts for any sailing dinghy are free to list. Currently there are over 120 sailing dinghy adverts, however this number changes as new boats are added and existing adverts are removed once boats have been sold. 16/04/07 - On-line Policy Renewal

If your existing policy is due for renewal shortly, don't forget that it is possible to renew the policy on-line at any time of day of night, via the Renewal page.

Simply enter your name and policy number and the amount to pay and you will be taken to our secure payment site to process your card payment. The whole process should take less than a minute and you will receive your new certificate by post with a few days.

Any changes to your circumstances or alterations to the policy can also be advised during the renewal process.

09/03/07 - Jet Ski Insurance

Noble Marine have now extended their range and are now able to provide insurance for personal watercraft, or to give them their more common name, Jet Skis.

As with all other marine insurance offred by Noble Marine, all aspects of the policy would be handled in-house, including providing a quotation, issue of all policy documents and claims, if one should arise.

07/03/07 - Job Vacancy with Noble Marine

Due to continued expansion, Noble Marine is seeking to recruit a new member of staff to join their busy Claims Department, based in their offices in Newark, Nottinghamshire.

19/10/06 - New Classes Added to the Boat Finder

Many new classes have been added to Noble Marine's Boat Finder search facility during 2006.

Some of the new classes added, include the 12ft Skiff, the Laser Aura, the Open Bic, the SKUD 18, the RS 500, the Tera and many more.

Almost 400 different classes are now listed, in the interactive Boat Finder, allowing you to select a class of boat according to the number of crew carried, the type of spinnaker and number of trapezes carried. On each boat's page, can be found useful class specific information including; contact details, boats for sale, a photograph and news articles.

The tool will also allow you to select all boats that are similar to a particular class, this will be very useful if you are considering which boat to buy.

04/8/06 - Laser thefts at Seaview, Isle of Wight

A recent spate of thefts at Seaview, Isle of Wight has seen 3 Lasers and a Laser Pico stolen within the last two weeks. The first boat to be stolen was recovered last week after an unsuspecting buyer spotted it on the www.stolenboats.org.uk website and alerted the local police.

A Laser Pico was then stolen on the 29th July and then on the 3rd August two Lasers, number 151064 and 179095, were also reported missing.

Anyone with information about these thefts is urged to contact either Noble Marine, Hampshire Police or submit a tip off through the www.stolenboats.org.uk website.

Noble Marine recently received a mention in the Laser 2000 newsletter after we handled a claim for an unfortunate incident at Bough Beech Sailing Club.

Following our prompt handling of the claim the Laser 200 owner, Chris Bell, comments as follows:

9/6/06 - Travel Insurance with an Option to Include Racing

Many standard travel insurance policies will not provide cover if you travel abroad to race your boat, or will not cover you if you sail a yacht between countries.

Noble Marine have made arrangements with travel insurance provider DogTag, to provide a travel insurance policy with options to extend the cover to include dinghy racing, yacht racing (both inshore and offshore) and sailing yachts between countries.

• One person, 10 days standard cover in Europe for £22.93, or £29.41 to include racing.
• Annual policy for the whole family anywhere in the world to include 17 days winter sports cover for a premium of £114.94, or £125.00 to include offshore cruising.

15/3/06 - Support for your Class Association

Class Associations are extremely important (both for the individual class and for the sport of dinghy sailing as a whole). An active class association can provide help for new and existing sailors, strong fleets for the racing, discounts on related products and many other benefits.

If nothing else, an active class association will maintain interest in the class and keep second-hand prices buoyant.

In essence, your class is there for you. If your association doesn't offer what you want or doesn't appear to provide value for money - Say something or better still get involved.

Noble Marine has for many years provided support to a number of Class Associations. Part of this support is to offer discounted insurance premiums to members of some associations. The discounts can be obtained by following a special link on the respective class web site or by clicking on the relevant logo here.

28/2/06 - Marinas & Yacht Harbours Database

A unique marinas database containing an unprecedented amount of information is now available via the Noble Marine website.

The database currently contains information on more than 300 marinas and yacht harbours and the list is constantly growing. The information is intended to integrate with our existing databases of repairers, and surveyors. The databases can now be searched to find the nearest repairers or surveyors to a particular marina or to produce a list of marinas near to any location in the UK.

Interactive maps and satellite images are available for all marinas along with photos, a live webcam feed where available, a list of available facilities, a description of the marina and mooring fees. More advanced search features are planned once information has been sent for the majority of marinas.

Over 3000 boats for sale are now available via the Noble Marine website.

The classified adverts are provided in association with www.theyachtmarket.co.uk and we have negotiated free adverts for all sailing dinghies for a limited time only. It is hoped that this will become one of the key websites to visit when buying or selling your boat.

Adverts can include a number of photos of each boat along with a comprehensive description to attract potential buyers. Listing your boat in this database will make your advert available to the combined visitors of both www.theyachtmarket.co.uk and the Noble Marine websites adding up to a significant proportion of the UK's website traffic in the marine sector.

A comprehensive sailing & yacht clubs database is now available via the Noble Marine website.

The database contains information on 1000 clubs and is intended to integrate with our existing databases of repairers, surveyors and dinghy classes. The databases can now be searched to find the nearest repairers or surveyors to a particular sailing club or to produce a list of clubs near to any location in the UK.

Interactive maps and satellite images are available for all clubs along with photos, a list of classes sailed, a description of the club, latest club news, venue details, lake size and membership fees. More advanced search features are planned once information has been sent for the majority of clubs.

28/11/05 - Photo Gallery Launched

A new photo gallery of insurance claims and boat damage is available on the Noble Marine website.

The gallery contains over 150 photos and is designed to promote the skills of our recommended repairers and further improve our claims service. We are aiming to build up a large resource to show that boats with major accident damage can often be repaired with no sign of the boat having been damaged.

Each repairer has a separate section of the gallery to showcase their skills and the gallery is linked in to our Repairers & Suppliers Database.

8/9/05 - Dinghy & Catamaran Database

Have you ever wondered how fast an 18ft Skiff is? Or who builds the Spectrum dinghy?

The Noble Marine dinghy database lets you compare statistics on over 300 different classes. The results can be sorted by 12 different parameters including insurance group, length, beam and sail area.

An interactive Boat Finder allows you to select classes according to the number of crew carried, the type of spinnaker and the number of trapeze. The tool will also allow you to select all boats that are similar to a particular class, this will be very useful if you are considering buying a boat as you can quickly compare the statistics for all the alternative classes. For many years we have maintained the database of popular dinghy classes to help ensure the premiums we charge for each class are as accurate as possible. We have now decided that it may be of much wider use and made it freely available via our website.

13/7/05 - Mapping service extended

The mapping service offered by Noble Marine has been extended to include maps of sailing clubs, businesses and any location that may need a map.

To sign up for your personalised map simply visit www.noblemarine.co.uk/maps.php3 and enter your details. The maps can be used to give details on your business location or even to tell your friends where you live.

Sailing clubs already registered on the service include Ripon Sailing Club and Rutland Sailing Club.

The maps are much clearer than most internet mapping services and can be linked to from your website or emails for as long as you need.

8/7/05 - Maps included in repairers database

The ever popular repairers database has been extended to include interactive maps showing the locations of our recommended repairers.

The maps use the latest technology and can be dragged to pan left or right and offer different zoom levels.

This service will help clients not only identify the nearest repairers but the easiest ones to travel to by road.

Repairers maps are fully integrated within the repairers database and can be viewed by postcode or region, click on the links below or visit the repairers database for more information or to try the maps yourself.

28/6/05 - Stolen Boats RSS feed now available  

Stolenboats.org.uk have released an RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feed to allow easier access to the latest marine theft information.

The RSS feeds allow you to stay up to date with the latest news and thefts shown on the Stolen Boats website.

To subscribe to it, you will need a News Reader or other similar device. You may also wish to use this feed to display Stolen Boats content on your website.

Noble Marine is pleased to announce that a list of approved marine surveyors can now be accessed via our website. The database can be searched by postcode, region, county or name to enable customers to search for local surveyors or to search for a particular surveyor by name.

The launch of the surveyor's database follows the success of our boat repairers database that was launched over a year ago.

The database has proved to be a great asset in allowing clients speedy access to a local repairer. Combined with our on-line claim form it is possible for insurance claims to be settled far more quickly, with the minimum of fuss. The service is not restricted to clients of Noble Marine and we have even discovered that our competitors are using the database to assist their own clients - Praise indeed!

10/3/05 - Repairers & Suppliers Database - 1 year old

The database of approved suppliers and repairers on Noble Marine's website is one year old. Following on from the great success of this database we have developed ways to further improve this free service.

Launched in March 2004, the database contains contact details and links to many marine suppliers and repairers. The database has proved to be a great asset in allowing clients speedy access to a local repairer. Combined with our on-line claim form it is possible for insurance claims to be settled far more quickly, with the minimum of fuss. The service is not restricted to clients of Noble Marine and we have even discovered that our competitors are using the database to assist their own clients - Praise indeed!

Searches can be carried out by company name, county or region of the UK. Alternatively why not type in your postcode to find the nearest retailer.

Boat insurance is only ever as good as the service you receive when you make a claim. This is one of the many ways in which Noble Marine is hoping to improve the speed of their claims service and maximise your time on the water.

Noble Marine has redeveloped their web site, to improve the ease in which clients may deal with their insurance policies on-line. These changes have been implemented following a study of feedback from Internet users, during the last four months.

The site now includes:

• On-line quotations for the majority of dinghy classes and the option to buy cover and receive your policy documents, any time of day or night.
• Quotations for larger yachts and other vessels
• On-line claim submissions to improve the time taken in dealing with your claim
• Searchable database of approved repairers and suppliers
• Renewal of existing policies
• Links to many class associations and to the new Stolen Boats web site www.stolenboats.org.uk

14/1/05 - Regulation of Insurance by the Financial Services Authority

From 14th January 2005, the Financial Services Authority (FSA) will be responsible for regulating intermediaries selling general insurance policies (e.g. motor insurance, home contents insurance and boat insurance) and regulating some parts of the after-sale process (e.g. helping policyholders to make insurance claims).

12/1/05 - Stolen Boats website

Noble Marine is pleased to be able to show support to a new database of Stolen Boats www.stolenboats.org.uk. All the information on this website is provided by the marine Insurance industry and the Police and is cross-checked with the Police National Computer.

We would urge all potential boat owners to check this database prior to buying any equipment, to guard against buying a previously stolen boat.

12/3/04 - Approved Suppliers Database

Noble Marine is pleased to announce that a list of approved repairers and suppliers can now be accessed at our repairers page. The database can be searched by postcode, region, county or name to enable customers to search for local companies or to search for a particular supplier by name.

Any clients wishing to submit a claim form on-line will also be given access to this database, as a further aid to reducing any time spent off the water.

21/7/03 - Topper Sailboats Insurance Scheme

Noble Marine is pleased to announce that they have arranged a new insurance scheme for all dinghies sold by Topper Sailboats.

The policy with Noble Marine would include:

• Third Party Liability of £3,000,000
• Comprehensive cover against accidental damage, theft, fire and vandalism
• New-For-Old cover on the mast, spars and sails, if damaged beyond repair, irrespective of age
• Any person is covered to sail the boat, with the policyholder's permission
• Full cover whilst racing
• 12 months cover in the UK and up to one month's use in Europe per annum
