Rutland Water is one of the largest man-made stretches of water in Europe, as big as Windermere and set in some of Britain's loveliest countryside. The beauty of Rutland can be seen at its best from a boat! Conditions are similar to estuary sailing, but without the tides - over 3000 acres (1215 hectares) of sheltered water.
The Club has three permanent racing courses laid out on the water, and can set a full Olympic course which allows racing to take place in practically any conditions, while still leaving plenty of room for leisure sailing.
A CLUB - complete with well-furbished clubhouse - changing rooms, bar, restaurant and a full range of social activities - Barbecues, dinners, dances, discos, lectures... members' accommodation.
The 10,000 square foot (929 sq m) Clubhouse provides first rate changing facilities, with showers. The Wet Bar caters for the sailor's creature comforts, and there's a luxurious lounge, lecture rooms and viewing deck. Added to this, the full bar and catering facilities are available on most days. There's also a Wireless Hotspot for member's use. All facilities are wheelchair accessible. The Clubhouse is open five days a week in the Winter (from Thursday to Monday). We welcome sailors of all ages and abilities, ranging from those taking up sailing for the first time, to those in world championship class, plus toddlers and teenagers, potterers and speed merchants.
