Classes Sailed:

The club has been around for over fifteen years and its main aims are to provide Club members with a range of opportunities to sail and skipper cruising yachts, to provide training and to organise social events for members. Club events are open to everyone, not just BT employees and all levels of experience are welcome. The aim is to have fun and enjoy the sailing whilst maintaining safe practices afloat.

The Sailing Programme includes a wide variety of sailing opportunities which fall into 4 general categories:

  • Weekend Cruises – usually in the Solent these are an opportunity to use and improve skills such as navigation and pilotage or just to relax and enjoy the sailing.
  • Training – boat handling weekends as well as structured courses leading to RYA qualifications.
  • Competitive Racing- participation in organised race events such as Round The Island, Antigua Race Week, The Fastnet, The Cyclades Blue Cup.
  • Holidays – cruising for a longer period usually 5 – 7 days both in the UK and abroad.

From time to time the Club also organises introductory weekends for people with little or no experience in the sport to gain a basic introduction to sailing and boat handling techniques, however beginners are welcome at all our events.

The Club is a recognised RYA Shore Based training establishment and provides formal RYA practical training to Competent Crew and Day Skipper standards. We can also arrange for discounts on training courses for RYA Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster qualifications.

I hope you will try some of the our events and and I'll see you on the water.
