The Beginnings
Back in September 1971, Richard Langford and Tony Noble formed M.A. Noble (Insurance Brokers) Ltd to offer general insurance to businesses and private individuals across the East Midlands. Richard and Tony were subsequently joined by Trevor Walton and the business continued to grow with offices based throughout Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire.
Through Richard's love of sailing, he developed a number of insurance schemes for a variety of dinghy class associations, such as the Enterprise, Solo and Laser and also schemes for rowing sculls and windsurfers. Richard has remained passionate about the need to support class associations, who he believes are the backbone of the sport of sailing in the UK. Noble Marine currently supports more than thirty class associations.
Formation of Noble Marine (Insurance Brokers) Ltd
In 1989 the decision was taken to divide M.A. Noble into three separate companies, and on 24th February 1989, Noble Marine (Insurance Brokers) Ltd., was formed to concentrate solely on the marine insurance business.
Noble Marine continued to develop, building on a reputation of providing prompt response to claims enabling customers to maximise their leisure time spent on the water.
Richard Langford is the current Chairman of the RYA, and a Council Member of the RNLI. He has previously held the position of RYA Deputy Chairman, RYA Treasurer and Treasurer of the UK Boardsailing Association (UKBSA) and has sat on the committees of a variety of local sailing and windsurfing clubs.
Noble Marine Underwriting Agencies) Ltd
Noble Marine continued to grow, developing further facilities for the insurance of larger yachts and motor cruisers, and in 1995 was appointed the sole Pleasure Craft underwriter for Commercial Union. A new company, Noble Marine (Underwriting Agencies) Ltd. was formed as a sister company to the original business, to administer policies for larger boat and to assist other insurance brokers in arranging marine insurance for their clients.

In April 2011, Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance plc, bought all shares in both Noble Marine companies and Jonathan Langford assumed the role of Managing Director, continuing the family's involvement with the businesses.
